Congratulations on being a My Co-op Power participant! The free energy app is brought to you by your local Kentucky Touchstone Energy Cooperative.
We appreciate your interest in participating in this pilot project and hope you’re enjoying the app. If you’ve had any problems with the download or app function, please reach out to us at support@mycooppower.com.
We hope you understand that with a pilot project like My Co-op Power, you’re helping us better understand how this feature works for our members.
If you’re considering joining us for Phase 2 of our pilot, you may be interested in the information provided below:
What is different about the second phase of this pilot?
In the second phase of our pilot, a select number of members will have access to real-time energy use and for some participants, equipment that allows you to control your thermostat, lights and plug outlets – all within My Co-op Power app or by using your Alexa.
There is no cost to you – both equipment and installation is free. As a My Co-op Power app user (current version), you currently have hourly energy data at your fingertips. With phase 2, you’ll be able to see real-time usage.
What difference does that make?
Real-time energy info can help you learn more about your home’s energy use every minute of the day!
That can lead to lower energy costs because can make energy efficiency decisions.
So, what’s included in phase 2 of My Co-op Power?
You’ll get a smart home energy hub and a meter adapter that provides that real-time energy experience.
Only the first 90 member volunteers will receive the free equipment. So, sign up quickly, because it’s first come, first served.
Plus, the first 60 member volunteers will receive a FREE wi-fi thermostat with free installation and a starter package of smart home devices. Volunteers receiving the free thermostat must be willing to participate in summer load control events.
Here’s a look at what real-time energy looks like in the app.
What does it mean to participate in the summer load control events?
Participating in our SimpleSaver summer load control events helps your local co-op manage their peak load and keep energy costs low. That just means that you give permission for your co-op to lower your thermostat by 3 degrees before peak times and then allow the temperature to increase by 3 degrees during peak times.
Events are only about a dozen times each year and last no longer than 3 hours each. It’s designed so that no one in your home is uncomfortable.
How do I sign up?
Be on the look out for an in-app notification in your My Co-op Power app. Make sure you have your smart phone set to allow these notifications.
Once you get the prompt, follow the instructions to sign up.
Or you can go to the equipment button (second from the left) on the bottom of the app’s main screen to sign up.
Next, simply choose the installation method you prefer: either “do it yourself”, request a phone-assisted install by appointment or let one of our friendly experts install if for you by appointment.
And remember, all installation methods are free!
Thank you for your time and for being a member of your local Touchstone Energy Cooperative. If you have additional questions, please send us an email at support@mycooppower.com.
